"A continuing care retirement community"
Our Mission: Through the application of Christian principles and values, we meet the physical, spiritual and emotional needs of older adults in a nurturing and caring environment.
Our Philosophy: As a non-profit, continuing care retirement community, we commit ourselves to increasing the quality of life of each PBC resident and ministering to our surrounding community. Through two valued resources - our dedicated employees and committed volunteers - we earnestly seek the satisfaction of our residents and their families. We strive to maintain an atmosphere of mutual respect, dignity, encouragement and support, affirming the potential within each of us to grow as individuals and as caregivers.
Our Tradition of Faith-Based Service: Peter Becker Community is committed to serving seniors of all faiths in the tradition of our forefathers - with compassion and Christ-like humility - and with a sense of duty and service that the Church was founded on so long ago. The vision of the community began as early as 1960 when a group of Brethren met to discuss the need for a comfortable, secure place where people could retire and be cared for when they could no longer care for themselves. Their vision provided for "complete" retirement services including independent living, personal care and skilled nursing.

4. Brethren Disaster Relief Auction
Every 4th week-end of September, members of the Church of the Brethren gather at the Lebanon County Fairgrounds near Lebanon, Pennsylvania, for a three day effort to raise money for victims of natural and man-made disasters. This event is sponsored by the Atlantic Northeast & Pennsylvania Southern Districts which represent more than 130 Church of the Brethren congregations. It has been unofficially stated that the Lebanon Disaster Relief Auction is the largest gathering of Brethren in the United States except for their Annual Conference, a national week long gathering of the membership for denominational business and worship. While most people gather in the main auditorium, vendors representing broad areas of interest setup their booths to display crafts, foods items, literature, and educational materials. Livestock and agricultural items are sold in outside sheds.

THE MISSION
Several hundred trained and certified disaster child care volunteers stand ready to provide child
care at disaster sites anywhere in the United States. Identified by blue-checked smocks worn over large
loving hearts, these volunteers provide comfort, encouragement, and the healing touch young children need in
traumatic situations.
Compassionate care givers comfort the children as they are guided toward activities designed to relieve stress and
calm fears. Children receive the attention they need in a safe and friendly environment in the company of other
children whose lives have also been disrupted.
Parents are given the freedom to tend to cleanup, search for shelter, or get assistance with the reassurance that
their children are in good hands. Parents are helped to understand their children's needs. Disaster case workers
are not distracted from their tasks of providing relief as quickly as possible.

Brethren Volunteer Service is people sharing God's love through acts of service. As a Christian-based
volunteer program sponsored by the Church of the Brethren, BVS builds on the church's strong commitment to service.
It's all about giving of your time and skills to help a world in need. You can work at issues greater than yourself,
knowing that you are a part of ongoing work for justice, peace, and the integrity of creation. As a volunteer; you'll
have the opportunity to bring hope to shattered lives, offer food and shelter to those in need, and build
understanding between individuals, groups, and nations.
Brethren Volunteer Service is sponsored by the Church of the Brethren, a Christian denomination with a heritage of
reconciliation and service. Founded in 1708, the Church of the Brethren stands with the Quakers and Mennonites as
a historic peace church. Out of this tradition BVS was established in 1948 to provide an intentional avenue for
sharing God's love through acts of service. During orientation, volunteers and the BVS staff work together to
match interests and skills with the needs of the project. There are over 100 positions available in the US and
throughout the world. Each project is committed to one or more of the following goals of BVS: working for peace,
advocating justice, serving basic human needs, and maintaining the integrity of creation.
